How many emails do you currently use? Personally, I have five emails and that is not counting our business email and my husband’s email, which for all intended purposes could be mine because I am the one who has to check it.
How did I end up with so many and why? I ended up with multiple emails because I enjoy being organized and it works for me. I am partial to Gmail and have been using Gmail for many years and I like that there are tabs that can be used to further organize emails.
I began with my personal email and shortly after, added my blog email. My personal email is the email that is attached to my credit cards, online shopping, etc. When I open this email, I want to quickly be able to review online purchases and shipping notices. I do not want to scroll down through loads of emails to see these things.
I have an email for financial mail. This is the email I use for financial statements, bank statements, and credit card statement notices. These are the only items that come into this mailbox making it easy to see at a glance what is happening on the financial side of our lives. The reason I do not use my personal email is online stores send sales and new product notices along with shipping and purchase notices which can result in quite a few emails on some days. This eliminates clutter for me.
My blog email is used for all things blog related. Authors and publishers have this email to send review information. I use this email for correspondence to entrants for giveaways. I follow loads of other blogs and social media and this email handles it all. A more appropriate name would probably be social media email.
The email I refer to as my “public” email is the email site I use for organizations and boards I sit on. There are also a couple of news sites that come to this email. My purpose behind having this email is when I decide I am through with “public” life, I can easily delete it and forget about it. Until then, I can quickly scroll through and see which organization or board has sent emails that may need addressing. It is also an email I use when I need to provide an email to someone I do not want having my personal email.
Next up is my Etsy shop email. Plain and simple, it handles all things Etsy shop related.
The other two emails are self-explanatory, my husband’s email and our construction/rental business email.
Having multiple emails may not work for everyone. Your life may be less email oriented and therefore one email is sufficient. Even if this is the case, I would still recommend an email to be used for financial purposes.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have found some interesting and helpful information while you were here.
