I have written in the earlier posts that I am an introvert – as in off the charts. With that being said, I am also an INTJ. People who are fascinated by personalities traits will have some inkling to what that means. Long story short, I have loads of strange quirks, lol! When I spend time with people, even people I love being around, I need time to detox. At one time and still, sometimes, I used to just walk around or sit and veg until I work my way through the anxiety. Through the years I have learned to channel that “non-energy” into purging and organizing, which are two of my favorite things. In my Facebook group, Simplify and Plan, I encourage people to simplify their lives and I teach planning and organizing. The following is taken from a post I shared within the group.

So, as I am encouraging all of you to simplify and purge at least once, it is something I do often. It has become part of my life.

Example – yesterday, I met with my Thursday morning ladies group. I love these meetings but for my introvert personality, even friendly gatherings can easily make me feel overwhelmed afterward. When I returned home yesterday, it didn’t take me long to find my way to my closet and begin reorganizing it and pulling out items I wanted to donate. I guess you could say that I purge my anxiety this way. Apparently, my closet is my therapist!

What I would like for you to take away from my quirkiness is when you find yourself at loose ends or trying to work your head around a problem, pick a space and purge or straighten it up. Make it a daily habit to pick an area and let your mind wander, or perhaps listen to a podcast or book, (I have begun listening to the committee hearings on YouTube) as you clean and toss. By making this a daily habit, your home will declutter itself. Decluttering isn’t a one time action, it should become a habit.

It doesn’t matter what personality you have, the information crosses those boundaries. I hope you found some helpfulness in this post. What are some of your quirks and how do you work through them?
